The property will be managed and advised by Chateau and Estates Wine Syndicate Limited (“CEWS”) whose senior management is as follows:
David Banford – Executive Director
David Banford has spent most of his career developing entrepreneurial ventures both in the UK and in the US. In the UK in 1970, he pioneered the development of loyalty cards with the launch of Countdown, and in 1976 went to the USA to develop The Wine Society of America which was floated on the NASDAQ in 1991. He then returned to the UK to launch the Sportscard Credit Card company with Sir John Beckwith, which floated on the AIM market in 2000, and was subsequently sold to UK Betting plc, now a subsidiary of BSkyB. He launched The Wine Society of India in 2006 a substantial shareholding in which was acquired by Laithwaites Wine in 2011.
Joe MacCarthy – Finance Director
After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2004, Joe spent 2 years as a financial analyst for RSA Insurance followed by 3 years as Financial Controller for Octopus Investments, a London based fund management company. He then moved to be an Investment Manager within the specialist finance division of Octopus where, until 2012, he specialised in originating, structuring and transacting investments utilising tax efficient investment funds. Since 2013, Joe has been developing several entrepreneurial ventures and is currently Investment Director at Blackfinch Investment Solutions.
Louis Mitjavile - Operations Director
Louis Mitjiavile, known as Loulou, runs the operations for his family's three estates: Tertre Roteboeuf, Roc de Cambes, and L'Aurage. He has day to day responsibility for both the viticultural and winemaking operations at those estates. He and his team will provide a turn-key solution for the production of the best possible wines from our terroir. There will be one chateau employee reporting to Loulou and he will also be responsible for supervising all sub-contracted operations.
Kris Engle - Hospitality
Kris Engle began her career in the Hospitality Industry working for Westin Hotels in the United States. This later took her to the United Kingdom where
she took on the role of Regional Director for Seabourn Cruise Line establishing their presence in the UK and Continental Europe until 2006 when she
relocated to Mumbai, India, and assisted in the roll-out of The Wine Society of India, primarily responsibility for member benefits and events.
Steven Spurrier - 'Circle of Friends' Steven Spurrier, started L’Academie du Vin in 1973, France’s first private wine school and went on to stage the famous Judgement of Paris wine tasting of 1976, which has now been immortalized in the film 'Bottleshock'. Steven is founder, together with Michael Broadbent, of the Christie’s Wine Course, and consultant editor for Decanter Magazine. He is a regular judge on the international wine tasting circuit and currently holds the position of Chairman of Decanter World Wine Awards and the co-chairman of Decanter Asia Wine Awards. Steven was the co-founder of The Wine Society of India in 2006 and will attend 'Circle of Friends' events at our Chateau.
